Volume I - Number VI

6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
Luke 2:6-7 KJV

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 KJV
(Recorded 700 years before He was born!)

Our AWANA program is growing by leaps and bounds. Because of this fact, we always need workers, and especially readers, so please consider offering yourself in service to the Lord in this area of our church outreach.

The Men's Breakfast was cancelled for this month, not because the men did not want to eat, but because there was a conflict. Something that does happen, from time to time, with a growing church. We will begin again the first Saturday in January, 2011.

Our church Prayer List really has gotten a work out in the last few months, with so many phone requests. We on the list really work hard in the praying department, but whenever we do, the Lord's blessings are showered upon us without measure.

November was a full month of activities, but December will top them all by far!

Our Christmas float in the Pineville parade won second place this year. I want to take this time to invite everyone to brave the winter chill, and to enjoy all the festivities for next year. You and yours (especially the young ones) will be glad you did.

We will present our Christmas cantata at 6PM, December 19th. Brother Ryan, and the choir, and the readers, have put in many hours in this special endeavor - so come and enjoy the fruits of their labors!

In the past we have supplied tenderly worn clothing and food boxes to people in our community who need them. If you know of any individual or family in need at this time, please contact any of the deacons. We humbly thank all of you in our church family who have donated clothing and non-peristable food to our pantry all year long.

The WMU has collected lap blankets for a local nursing home and will deliver them Monday the 20th. Thank you to all who participated by making or purchasing the blankets.

Please put this church and its members on your personal prayer list for:
personal, spiritual growth of its members
growth in numbers
progress in every dimension
a heart to continue its outreach services
a spirit to continuing to deliver "The Good News" to all of McDonald County - both to the saved as well as to the lost.
(While never forgetting to thank Him for our blessings without number.)

Child Chatter:

Q: Name the four seasons.
A: salt, pepper, mustard, catsup.
Q: How can you keep milk from souring?
A: Keep it in the cow.

Monthly WORD To Ponder:

Denigrate -
To cast aspersions, blacken, defame, gossip, put down, verbally abuse, downgrade, belittle, put upon. All being in a word, S-I-N! So don't do it!

SPOTLIGHT ON - Roger and Vehrlene Crosswhite:

Roger the quiet one - Deacon, Committee Member, AWANA Leader, assistant Sunday School Teacher, Usher, loyal companion.

Vehrlene the merry one - Church Clerk, excellent cook, Choir Member, Nursery Worker, AWANA Leader, steadfast friend.

Both are tireless workers in God's vineyard. Roger and Vehrlene have that special gift of working with our youth and teens; providing near perfect examples of what Christian men and women should strive for and be. They show always, in their daily walk with their Lord, and each other, kindness, patience and love, tempered with a keen sense of humor, where they take neither others, nor themselves, too seriously. Yet Vehrlene and Roger are, at the same time, steadfastly intent when it comes to finding and winning the lost to Christ. God, continue to richly bless them, and us, as they follow each day their Lord and Master Jesus who is also known as The Christ.

Christmas Observations By A Deacon:

Had a few things to pick up from Wal-Mart the other day including a Bible to be given as a gift, and some Christmas decorations. Had to ask directions to both these aisles. The Bibles were on a stand in the rear corner of the store. Hardly prominently displayed. Nor, sadly, was their much of a selection. However, I did notice that there was a very large "Merry Christmas" wall of Pepsi Cola products. And I personally did wish all I met with a hearty and heart felt "Merry Christmas!" As I put some money in the Salvation Army kettle the lady ringer gave me a warm: "God Bless You!" (So much for 'political correctness' in at least one humble place on earth.)

We will soon celebrate the greatest gift ever given to mankind on December 25th. There is a general consensus among Bible scholars that Christ was actually born in September, but as we do not celebrate a date on a calendar, whenever He was actually born, we the living (and the dead in Christ) can rest secure in the knowledge that eternal Life, Peace, Freedom, and limitless Love is available to all who accept Him as simply and exactly who He is. Jesus, The Christ, the only Son of the Living God.
